Meet the Client

Tesco, an international retailer headquartered in the UK, entered the Polish market in 1995. Over the years, Tesco had a widespread presence in Poland with various store formats and an online shopping service. However, despite the extensive cost-cutting and streamlining attempts, Tesco announced its intention to sell all its operations in Poland in 2019, which were acquired by Salling Group in 2020.

Tesco, one of the most prominent supermarket chains in Poland, wanted to promote their grilling products in a new and engaging way to create a unique customer experience. They reached out to Leaware to develop a mobile application that would allow users to participate interactively in the promotion, leading to the development of the Grill King app.

Challenge

With the increasingly competitive retail market, Tesco sought to create an engaging and interactive promotional campaign for their grilling products. The challenge was to develop an application that would not only promote the products but also create a fun, interactive experience for the users. 

Solution

Leveraging Xamarin, Leaware developed the Grill King app for both iOS and Android platforms. The app allows users to take a picture and transform it into a Grill Master shape, creating a fun, unique experience tied to Tesco’s promotional campaign.

While the exact download figures remain confidential, feedback from users has indicated high engagement levels and a positive reception. Tesco reported a noticeable increase in the sales of their grilling products during the promotional campaign, indicating the app’s success in boosting their promotion.

While we respect Tesco’s decision to keep the exact figures confidential, it was reported that during the promotional campaign, Tesco saw a significant increase in customer engagement and sales of grilling products.

The success of the Grill King app project reaffirms the power of interactive promotional campaigns. It also underlines the importance of understanding the client’s goals and audience to create a tool that resonates with users and achieves the desired promotional goals.
