Meet the Client
Runeasi is a wearable tech company born as a spin-off of KU Leuven. Leaware created and developed this app based on eight years of rigorous and collaborative research between the Human Movement and Artificial Intelligence Research Groups of KU Leuven.
Runeasi’s real-time functionality gives the user immediate and objective visual feedback about how well the user’s patients are moving. This enables the user to immediately identify problem areas, weak links, or poor running technique


Challenge
The problem was not easy to identify, but after some research done by the Leaware team, the objective was clear and it was to determine how wearable sensors and AI can provide personalized biomechanical insights to runners without the need for an expensive, indoor-only 3D motion lab.

Leaware managed to find the solution to the needs of users through:
• Engage the patients through visual gamification and watch how they self-optimize to the user’s clinical cues.
• Provide services in the clinic, on the field, or the running
track.
• Increase retention and clinic loyalty by quantifying baselines
and tracking progression along the return to play process.
• Establish the patient’s biomechanical blueprint and implement
it with other strength, mobility, and functional tests.
• Select from a catalog of pre-programmed tags or create
your own tags. Categories include injury type, athlete type,
protocol/testing selection, or running surface.

Benefits
After many developments and tests, the benefits of this application created by Leaware are a lot:
• Runeasi is currently built for healthcare professionals to help runners, athletes, and clients run better.
• While running, the impact when the foot hits the ground is repetitive and impacts the musculoskeletal system. Heart rate or standard GPS metrics like speed, distance, and time cannot capture these impacts.
• The unique position of the sacral sensor allows Runeasi to capture the total body impact and detects how the body responds to the impact.
• A healthcare professional can analyze the running pattern and use Runeasi to identify weak links or asymmetries.
• Runeasi measures biomechanical measurements and thus does not measure heart rate. The Runeasi app allows the patient to rate the perceived exertion which allows the user to capture the patient’s running intensity.
• Webinars about rehab and return-to-sport cases are available.

Results
-As expected, this digital product has the Leaware brand on many sides of its coding and design and the quality of it follows each and every one of the rigorous controls that Leaware carries out.
-The product which Runeasi initially released was well-received by early adopters.
-Runeasi got the feedback that their product allows users to do efficient screenings of their patients and reveal
interesting insights.
