Amefa App: a mobile sales revolution
Business context
AMEFA GmbH is one of Germany’s leading distributors in the medical technology sector, serving 45,000 customers for over 50 years, including retailers, pharmacies, medical supply stores, clinics, public offices, medical practices and laboratories. The company’s reputation is built on reliability, quality and a broad product portfolio for medical practices and healthcare facilities across Germany.
In 2014, with growing customer expectations around speed and availability, as well as frequent promotional campaigns, AMEFA needed a mobile sales channel. The goal was to streamline the ordering process and provide convenient 24/7 access to the full offering, while also improving the overall shopping experience.
Challenge
The key challenge was to create a comprehensive and secure sales application that would provide fast access to the full product catalogue and current promotions, simplify the ordering process and deliver personalisation at the end-user level.
The project required integration with AMEFA’s data backend and sales processes, ensuring high performance for a large customer base, and designing intuitive navigation for diverse user groups. It was also necessary to implement login and data transmission mechanisms that met high security standards in order to build trust and reduce the number of interactions with the support team.
In addition, the solution had to enable fast product ordering in the field and at points of sale, including via code scanning, as well as introduce features that would make repeat purchases and basket management easier.
Solution
Leaware developed Amefa App as a modern mobile solution based on an architecture with REST API, a web panel and an integration layer for managing catalogue data and offers. The login area and transactions were secured with SSL encryption, ensuring safe purchasing and protecting user data.
The application offers clear product categories with filtering features, promotional bundles and favourites lists that make it easier to complete the basket and repeat orders. A built-in QR code scanner makes it possible to instantly find and add a product to the basket, significantly reducing order processing time.
From an operational perspective, the web panel enables AMEFA teams to efficiently manage content, offers and product ranges, as well as monitor usage of the application’s features. Overall, this translated into greater customer convenience, faster order handling and better control over the mobile sales process.
