IKZE in your pocket: a simple calculator for savers

Business context

ESALIENS TFI SA needed a mobile tool that would make retirement planning within IKZE easier for savers. The goal was to deliver a simple, reliable and convenient Android app enabling users to quickly estimate their tax relief and the value of their accumulated capital.

The project started in 2014, responding to growing user expectations for instant access to financial information without the need to contact an adviser or log in to transaction platforms. User experience was key: clear language, minimal formalities and no barriers to entry.

The app was also intended to serve as an educational tool, allowing users to perform calculations independently and compare saving scenarios in an informed way. In this way, Esaliens strengthened its relationship with customers by offering real added value beyond traditional sales channels.

Challenge

The biggest challenge was to design an intuitive app that performs precise calculations offline, without requiring registration. The tax logic for IKZE had to work quickly and reliably, while the results had to be presented in a way that was easy to understand for users of different ages.

At the same time, it was necessary to ensure broad compatibility across devices with varying specifications – from smartphones to tablets – and smooth performance on thousands of models available on the market. An additional requirement was to enable the generation of personalised PDF reports and the sending of offers by email, while maintaining a consistent user experience.

The project also required minimising friction across the user journey: fast start-up, clear navigation, no need to log in, and a logical breakdown of results into components so that financial decisions would be easier to make.

Solution

The Leaware team developed the Kalkulator IKZE z ESALIENS Android app, equipped with a high-performance calculation module that works fully offline. The tool allows users to estimate their tax relief for a given year and the total capital accumulated in IKZE, with a clear breakdown into contributions, potential gains and forecast private pension income.

Users can generate a personalised PDF report and quickly share it by email, making it easier to analyse and archive the results. The interface was designed for simplicity and readability, making the app convenient for adults of all ages to use – without registration or login.

To ensure maximum reach, compatibility with a very broad range of devices and manufacturers was treated as a priority. Adaptive layouts, a lightweight architecture and rigorous testing across multiple configurations were applied, resulting in stable performance on both smartphones and tablets.
