Floud: mobile ticketing and event promotion in one app
Business context
Floud is a Finnish startup founded in 2017 with the ambition to simplify event organisation and monetise ticket sales through the mobile channel. The founders wanted to combine event promotion with a convenient sales channel, creating a solution that was more engaging than traditional ticketing platforms.
With this initial product, the Floud team approached us for support in refining the concept, modifying the existing app, and shaping it into a solution ready to scale. A mobile-first approach, low entry barriers for organisers, and mechanisms driving attendee engagement were key priorities.
Challenge
The challenge was to transform Floud into a complete solution: from event discovery and organisation to ticket purchase and distribution within one cohesive user experience. The app was meant to give users visibility into where their friends were going, while also encouraging the community to actively promote events.
It was essential to enable seamless sharing of tickets purchased for multiple people, regardless of whether the recipients were already using the app. At the same time, organisers needed to be able to launch sales independently and quickly, without subscription fees, while on-site ticket validation had to remain simple and reliable.
Solution
The Leaware team redesigned the Floud app, focusing on user experience and network effects. Users can see who has already bought tickets and how many of their phone contacts are planning to attend, strengthening social proof and driving sales.
The ticket purchase and distribution process was streamlined: tickets are delivered directly to the buyer’s phone, while tickets purchased for friends are automatically sent to their Floud app or, if they do not yet have an account, delivered via SMS. On-site, e-tickets are scanned at the entrance, making event operations more efficient.
For organisers, a simple creator was implemented to enable quick event setup and sales launch without subscription fees. The app was made available on Android and iOS, combining promotion, distribution, and entry handling within one lightweight ecosystem.
