Super Papugi — play that supports children’s hearing
Business context
NCU was looking for a digital solution to support the early detection and correction of hearing difficulties in children. The goal was to create an educational tool combining game elements with genuine therapeutic support, making specialists’ work easier while engaging the youngest users in regular exercises.
The resulting Super Papugi application uses gamification mechanisms to encourage children to recognise and differentiate sounds. In this way, it supports the development of auditory perception and can serve as a valuable part of early intervention for children with hearing difficulties.
Developed since 2015, the project remains a useful tool in educational and therapeutic practice, and its format — available on the Windows platform — supports easy implementation in institutions and at home.
Challenge
The greatest challenge was combining solid substantive value with a child-friendly, engaging experience. The application needed not only to entertain, but also to support the process of diagnosis and auditory function training through appropriately designed tasks and high-quality acoustic stimuli.
It was also important to ensure ease of use and repeatability of exercises so that children would willingly return to them, while specialists could deliver intervention consistently. This had to be achieved in a Windows environment, while ensuring stable performance and broad availability on commonly used devices.
Solution
Leaware built a native application for Windows 8.1, designing an environment in which children train sound differentiation through play. In Super Papugi, the player’s task is to identify sounds repeated by parrots reproducing sequences previously spoken by a boy — this mechanic supports concentration and reinforces correct perceptual patterns.
The interface and gameplay flow were designed with the youngest users in mind: a clear visual layer, intuitive navigation and fast feedback increase motivation and support consistent training. The task structure makes it possible to develop skills gradually without placing excessive strain on the child.
The application’s availability on the Windows platform simplifies implementation in schools, counselling centres and at home, supporting early identification of difficulties and regular hearing exercises in a friendly, stress-free format.
