Meet the Client
Our client was the administrative authority of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. They sought to document, preserve, and popularize the phenomena of their traditional culture to both their local community and the world at large.
Historical Background
& Current Situation
Mazowieckie Voivodeship is a historical and culturally rich region located in central and northeastern Poland. Over time, due to political changes and related administrative shifts, the region now hosts traditions rooted in the heritage of neighboring lands. This cultural mosaic presented a unique challenge to accurately represent and popularize the diverse traditions. Our challenge was to digitize and facilitate the exploration of this diverse cultural heritage.
Challenge
The client required a platform that could catalogue and present their rich cultural heritage in a systematic and user-friendly manner. They wanted to incorporate various forms of media to properly convey the depth and diversity of their traditions, and help people plan visits to these cultural sites.
Solution
Leaware used .NET and Angular technologies to create “Mazowiecki Szlak Tradycji,” an interactive application compatible with both Mac iOS and Windows. The application integrates informative content about the region’s folk traditions, 18th and 19th-century architecture, regional cuisine, and craftsmanship. A comprehensive photo and video gallery further brings these traditions to life. The app features an integrated calendar of events and an interactive map to facilitate route planning for visitors wishing to explore the cultural sites of Mazovia.

Benefits of the App
The Mazowiecki Szlak Tradycji app serves as a bridge between the past and present, engaging users with rich multimedia content that brings the traditions of the region to life. The app allows users to immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the region from anywhere in the world and plan visits to the most interesting cultural sites in Mazovia.
Results
While we are not at liberty to disclose specific download numbers, the Mazowiecki Szlak Tradycji app has been received positively, with users across Poland and the world interacting with Mazovian culture. Feedback indicates that users have found the app educational and engaging.
Data and Evidence
Post-launch surveys show that 85% of respondents found the app “very informative” and “easy to navigate,” while 90% said they would recommend the app to others interested in Polish culture. Additionally, 70% of users have used the app to plan visits to the featured cultural sites.
Lessons Learnt
This project reinforced the importance of understanding the specific needs and nuances of the audience and the content being digitized. It highlighted the significance of thorough research and collaboration with experts to ensure an authentic representation of the diverse cultural traditions. Moreover, the project taught us that when technology meets heritage, it not only helps in preserving traditions but also makes them accessible to a global audience. This blend of technology and culture can serve as a model for other regions and communities around the world seeking to digitize and share their unique cultural heritage.
