Objective
Our primary objective was to exemplify our ability to develop an innovative mobile application for the energy sector, delivering valuable utility consumption information to users.
Meet the Client
Tauron is the largest electricity distributor and the second-largest electricity provider in Poland. This project’s impact was significant for Leaware, as it enabled us to grow in an area that delivers substantial value to users.
Historical Background
& Current Situation
Operating in a market niche presented a challenging environment. However, recognizing the potential benefits of a consumer-centric application, Tauron decided to explore digital solutions to enhance their customer engagement and service delivery.
Challenge
The primary challenge was to create a mobile application for iOS, Android, and Windows that would attractively display information on energy consumption sourced from users’ smart meters. Another task was to develop an advanced API for downloading data from a warehouse serving 100,000 users.
Solution
Using our software development methods, we overcame these challenges to deliver the Tauron mobile application. Features of the application include:
· Displaying daily energy usage.
· Enabling end customers to analyze their energy consumption.
· Providing instant access to current meter readings.
· Allowing users to set savings plans and receive notifications via email and text message.
· Showing energy use for a given day in an animated format

Benefits of the App
The use of Xamarin technology allowed us to achieve an 80% code sharing, significantly accelerating the solution’s development.
Results
The Tauron app has seen enormous success, with over 100,000 downloads since its initial launch in 2018.
Data and Evidence
The sheer volume of downloads (100,000+) since the app’s launch in 2018 is a testament to its value and user acceptance. The significant number of users also indicates the robustness and scalability of the backend API, which we developed to handle such a large user base.
Lessons Learnt
Through the development of the Tauron app, we learned invaluable lessons about creating user-centric applications in the energy sector. The project underscored our understanding that user experience and utility are vital in today’s tech-driven world.
