To illustrate Leaware’s proficiency in creating educational and interactive applications, showcasing the Chagall for Children app developed for the Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago.
Meet the Client
Kohl Children’s Museum, based in the USA, is committed to sparking imagination and curiosity in children through learning experiences. Each year, the museum welcomes approximately 300,000 visitors and has about 6,000 member families. Their exhibits are specially designed for children aged birth to 8 and are aligned with the Illinois State Learning Standards.
Historical Background
& Current Situation
The Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago is renowned for its interactive, hands-on exhibits for young children. The museum aimed to introduce the children to the beauty of art in an engaging and fun way. As a part of this effort, Leaware was approached to create an application allowing the children to interact with the work of renowned painter Marc Chagall.
Challenge
The museum was looking for a unique and innovative way to expose young children to the world of art. The challenge was to create an interactive application that children could easily navigate and would find enjoyable, while also introducing them to Marc Chagall’s famous artwork.
Solution
Leaware utilized Windows Universal technology to develop the Chagall for Children app for the Windows platform. The application allows users to take a photo and integrate it into Chagall’s famous “The Violinist” painting, providing a fun and educational experience.

Data and Evidence
The app’s success can be seen in the positive feedback and increase in children’s interest in art activities at the museum. Even though specific download numbers are confidential, the app has had a significant positive impact on user engagement and has encouraged many children to learn about art in a fun and engaging way.
Lessons Learnt
The development of the Chagall for Children app has taught us the importance of making learning fun and interactive for children. Combining technology with art in an easy-to-navigate format can stir interest and foster appreciation for art among young users. These insights will continue to guide us as we develop more applications aimed at sparking curiosity and learning in children.
